Ydrus Trine impressed the fuck out of me, chaotic beastly Black Metal that lay close to War Metal, and ZKD does it all by herself. Some of you might know ZKD as Ziek Drachenfels who is also playing guitars for Churchacide and played with Phalanx Inferno for a while.
And another one that impressed the fuck out of me, Videotraum from Germany with their latest single Vermissen. No chaotic beastly Black Metal here but excellent electronic Darkwave.
Karyn Crisis is widely known for her vocals in the band Crisis and her current band Gospel of the Witches. For Serpents, she teamed up with Luciano Lamanna to create some wonderful hypnotic Ambient. Your Cold Embrace is taken from the album Anima that’s been released by Bloodrock Records.
I really dig the sound of Living Dead Girl and can’t wait till it’s June 11 when their debut album Exorcism is unleashed upon the world. For now, we have to do it with their recently released official video for the song Alive. Wanna know more about Living Dead Girl, check out the interview I did with Molly HERE.
I found Metalcore highly enjoyable if it’s done right and that’s the case with SeeYouSpaceCowboy, Painting A Clear Picture From A Unreliable Narrator is taken from the split with If I Die First, A Sure Disaster. Pre-orders are going fast so make sure you get one on time.
Inception of Eternity from Germany/US is a band that still embraces good old-fashioned Gothic Metal and I respect them for that, lately more and more old-school Gothic Metal bands are popping up so maybe we’re heading towards a revival, wouldn’t mind that. The Cradle of Darkness is taken from Inception of Eternity‘s second full-length Last Exit to the Past where vocalist SINtana got to be a full member of the band, on the debut album she did only one song, and I really love the interaction she has with male vocalist Ken Pike on the album, I really had fun listening to it cause its not only Gothic Metal but also Industrial can be found on Last Exit to the Past.
Punk Rockers Suck from Germany returned to the bandmembers musical pasts and recorded Hell and Heaven, an hommage to 80ies Thrash Metal, and fuck me, it has become an awesome song so put your fist in the air and bang.
Alternative Metallers Misty Eyed from the US have a new single out, Run, through 59 X Records. I didn’t know the band so did some digging in their back catalog and it turns out to be a great band. Looking forward to hear more from them.
I didn’t know the Norwegian Ask Carol either but just like Misty Eyed, I’m glad I found out about them. Ask Carol is a duo that is going to release an album somewhere this year and I’m really excited about that as I’m already addicted to this song, Darkest Hour.
