Had some serious fun with the S/T debut album from Through the Oculus, the US-based band mixes easily Death Metal with Symphonic Metal and Hardrock without taking a pole position in one of the aforementioned genres. Sure, the base is in extreme Metal but guttural vocals over Heavy Metal riffs are not done often by other bands and 1 minute later vocalist Sarah Gamblin uses her operatic voice to complete a song. I wouldn’t be surprised when this album ends up in a lot of end-of-year lists. A physical CD will be available from June 4 and you can pre-order it.
Unbeaten from Poland has with vocalist Eliz the type of singer that suits perfectly for a Hardcore band I think, the kinda shouting singing she does gives the music a pleasantly Punk vibe. Wheat & Chaff comes from their 2018 EP Fight Your Fears and I heard some rumors that Unbeaten is working on new songs for a new EP so stay tuned for that. For now, enjoy this recently released video.
One month after the release of the single Dirty Game is another single dropped by Metal Factory, the Heavy Metal band from the Czech Republic. With Defeat All, the band slowed down a bit creating almost a ballad-like song but powerful and epic. Both songs are taken from an upcoming album, with no release date yet, unfortunately.
I had to look up in which country Kropyvnytskyi is located, the home base for Folk Metallers Teren. It turns out to be in Ukraine and Kropyvnytskyi has 228.630 residents from who 6 turned their love for Folk Metal into a band and as a result, we have three singles now and Pozanich is the latest. Excellent music and I like their modern sound, gives it that bit of extra that makes them stand out to others.
Revolution Eve from Germany got my attention with their Alternative Rock, its the kinda music that you can listen to throughout the whole day and that will make you feel happy. These ladies have definitely a new fan in me. Life is taken from the upcoming album Life and I couldn’t find a release date so stay tuned with Revolution Eve for that.
Just a few more days and Cuts & Scars, the upcoming debut album from Finnish Hardrockers Lost Division shall be released, May 28 to be specific. In the meantime, Inverse Records released a second single for us to enjoy.
Ajana is the solo project from Luise Markert who started with Ajana back in 2003 and is now ready to release her fourth album, The Alley’s Lantern, with a release date set on May 21. Had a listen to the first three albums off course and was pleasantly surprised by the experimental character of Ajana, throw in some Heavy Metal, some Doomy elements, a bit of Symphonic and other non Metal influences and you have Ajana. To experiment even further Ajana‘s third album is completely electronic and that makes me curious to her new album.
Nice, a new album from Lost in Grey is on its way. It’s the third full-length from the Finnish Theatrical Metal band and shall be released via Reaper Entertainment on July 2. Souffrir is the first single from the album Under the Surface and I’m already hooked on the album after hearing only one song.
And we close today’s mixtape with this cool Carcass cover from Ignacia Fernandez, who you might know from Chilean Decessus who dropped it’s first single a few months ago. If you don’t know Decessus you need to check them out as they produce kick-ass Progressive Death Metal and you can check it out HERE. But not before you listened to this cover as it’s perfectly done.
