A tribute to: Denigrata

One of the most remarkable Avantgarde Black Metal albums comes from Denigrata, the UK based band that sadly has been disbanded in 2019.

Denigrata formed in 2014 and released its debut album Missa Defunctorum: Requiem Mass In A Minor on November 29 by themselves onto CD and Carvetii Productions did a Cassette release.

Not many Black Metal albums are so varied in its influences as Missa Defunctorum: Requiem Mass In A Minor, there is of course Black Metal but mixed with Industrial, Gothic, Classical, and we can even throw in some Symphonic Metal. On paper, it doesn’t make sense but just listen to it, it’s an extreme Metal album but with a beautiful heart, there is chaos, but it is structured, there are loving emotions, but they feel as hatred and the whole album is for about 38 minutes just pure ingenious.

Although The Metal Archives states Denigrata as active, their Facebook page has the sad announcement on July 24, 2019, that the band has stopped all activities due to ill health of Denigrata Herself, the characteristic and charming front lady with a voice that seemed to be coming out of hell directly.
