Although the debut album from Velkhanos, The Wrath from 2020, already was an impressive beast, this first single from upcoming album The Vampire Of Alva Pt.1 impresses me even more. Excellent Melodic Black/Death Metal and thumbs up to Miriam who improved her grunts, making it sound more natural now.
Gel is simply awesome, if your debut full-length only last for 17 minutes you deserve respect. Gel‘s Hardcore Punk is not revolutionary, but on Only Constant they prove that it’s not necessary for a band to be revolutionary to deliver a great record. Attainable is taken from Only Constant, out 31 March via Convulse Records.
If you have Steve Di Giorgio, from the legendary Sadus, on bass you have my attention, Mythodea is the project from its founder Christos Nikolaou from Greece, and after it’s self-titled debut full-length from 2012 Mythodea is now back for a new album. Hidden One is the second single off it and features Madeleine Liljestam from Eleine on vocals. The first single has Ida Haukland from Triosphere on vocals, so I’m curious who we will hear on the third single.
Resiste de Pie hails from Argentina and have a certain crusty element in their Hardcore Punk that I really dig. This song is taken from their self-titled EP from 2023 that for as far I can find only digital available is. So check them out!
Smoulder from Finland, formerly from Canada, seems to have added a little more tempo to their Epic Heavy Metal which was more doomy on their past releases. But this seemingly new direction from Smoulder sounds great and with the distinctive vocals from Sarah Ann it gives it a haunting touch which makes it real Epic Heavy Metal. The new album, Violent Creed of Vengeance is out on April 21 via Cruz del Sur Music.
At first, I didn’t think that much of Dramascream when I hit play on What I’ve Become, taken from the latest Revive EP, from the US based Dramascream, but soon I discovered that I was nodding along with my head and the occasionally screams from Lauren are astounding and gives the songs on Revive just that extra oomph. I’m really surprised about Dramascream, and they can consider me as a new fan.
